In this 4th series I will continue to feature songs from the Baring-Gould collection & stories about them.
But, there is much more to know about the Rev Gentleman's other interests that occupied his time if we dig a little.
He was a popular gifted storyteller, writer of popular novels, biographies, books of devotion, travel & studies of antiquities & Folklore.
At one time he had more books in the British library than any other author.
Tales from his published books on Devon & Cornwall and stories of Devon's Folklore will feature in some episodes in this the series.
This 1st episode fits well with BG's interest in folklore & history as we hear in my interview with Cornwall-based singer/songwriter Chris Hytch who has a passion for Cornish folklore and history. Chris has the uncanny knack of being able to take an old, story, give it some extra twists and turns, maybe add a bit of humour, and end up with a fresh-sounding, clever, modern song. With songs from his band Annown's CD 'A Half A Face'.
